Introducing Mr. Eric Johnson

Johnson Named New Leader at OCA

After many hours of prayer, resume reviews, interviews and discussion, Oconee Christian Academy is excited to share with everyone, their newly named Head of School, Mr. Eric W. Johnson. The Board is confident that Mr. Johnson is who God has called to lead the school into the future. His experience, philosophy on education, leadership, and strong recommendations made him a top candidate during the process. His love for the Lord and willingness to follow God’s leading made him the best person to ensure OCA continues to be a school and ministry that glorifies God by nurturing students and equipping them to fulfill God’s unique purpose for their lives through Kingdom Education.

Mr. Johnson served as the middle school principal for the past 15 years at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy and led their wrestling program for 11 of those years. The Christian school is located about 30 minutes south of Atlanta and consists of approximately 1,000 students in an ethnically diverse community.

Mr. Johnson brings over 20 years of teaching and administrative work in both public and private education systems, as well as 10 years of service in secular industry including almost 8 years at the Hershey Chocolate Company holding various roles. Mr. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Cedarville University in 1991 where he met his wife. He completed a Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from Troy State University in 2003 and then completed his Specialist degree in Educational Leadership in 2006.

The school is excited that Mr. Johnson is joining them and looks forward to having him as a visible leader who will continue to foster excellence within Oconee Christian Academy. Mr. Johnson and his family relocated from Stockbridge, GA to Seneca full time at the end of June. He and his wife, Gwen, have been married since December of 1991 and together they have two children. They have an adult son working as a registered nurse in the emergency room of the Hershey Medical Center, a Penn State teaching hospital, in Hershey, PA. Their daughter Victoria will attend Oconee Christian Academy beginning in the fall of 2021 as part of the class of 2023.
